‘Inspirational Women’ event raises £2,200!

A ‘Friends of Action Against Cancer’ committee raised an amazing £2,200 at their inaugural event last week. The committee, which comprises of Shelley Ferster, Jan Warner, Lisa Binder and Lisa Hodari put on a beautiful event at the lovely home of Nicola Fine in Hale, Manchester. And guess what?... I was invited to speak and had the most amazing time! The other speaker was Deborah Joseph, the Editor of Easy Living Magazine, who shared her incredible career, celebrity experiences and hilarious anecdotes. A big thank you to Celia Clyne Banqueting who sponsored the event by providing absolutely delicious food and to all of the generous business who provided raffle prizes. Also a big thank you to Gregory Chiche who kindly provided and operated the sound equipment on the evening.

Everybody enjoyed themselves and there was a palpable spirit of good will in the air. I was overwhelmed by all the support and well wishes from everybody who attended. Shelley, Jan, Lisa B and Lisa H will be taking part in individual fundraising challenges for One Thousand Women so check back soon to see what they will be doing! They are all amazing. I could not have enjoyed my first visit to Manchester more. The event has put me on a real high.

Much love

01/01/12 -Welcome to One Thousand Women!

Samantha Wisnevitz

I am so excited about our new campaign, One Thousand Women! As you may have already guessed, this campaign supports breast cancer research and specifically drug development. My oncologist, Professor Justin Stebbing and his team have identified a gene which is responsible for the reoccurrence of breast cancer – that’s the good news.

The bad news is that in order to develop a drug to fight against this gene, they need funding… and a lot of it.

Our aim is to raise £250,000 to help fund this drug development. This is where you come into the picture. Anything you can do to help us reach our target amount would be fantastic. Invite your friends, join a hub, run a race, bake cakes…..let your imagination run wild with potential fundraising ideas. It’s for an extremely worthy cause and not only will your help make a difference to so many but you will also have fun in the process. Let’s turn some bad news into good news! Let’s save lives.

With Love
